The fantasy football season has officially started. Our league recently had its draft. I am really excited about playing again this year. I really enjoy it. For those of you that dont know much about fantasy football it is basically a way for out-of-shape men to compete against each other using someone else’s athletic ability. Each person in the league drafts players from real NFL teams to have on their fantasy team. My team name is Torch (a nickname a friend gave me years ago). Each week of the regular NFL season I will play against another team owner. Winning each week will depend on how the players I start do in real life. If my players score touchdown in real life, they score points for my fantasy team.
Fantasy football might seem like it is foolishness, but it is really fun. But it takes research and time. You have to know about the players and the teams they play on to know if they are good prospects for your fantasy football team. For example, Ahman Green (a former Nebraska Cornhusker runningback) plays for the Packers. He is a good runner, but he plays on a team that has a weak offensive line so it could hurt his rushing statistics. He might not get a lot of yards or touchdowns because the offensive line won’t hold off defenders, so it might be wise to draft a different runningback on a team like the Chiefs who have a good offensive line. These are the types of things that you need to know. So it takes some work to have a good fantasy football team.
I won our league two years in a row, but then last year I didnt make the playoffs. So I am trying to put together a better team this year. Speaking of which, I have offered another player a trade…I better go see if he accepted my offer. ND
