Labor Day 2012 (Part 1)
Every Labor Day we try to get away from Gainesville and go somewhere fun. Last year we went to Tampa Bay and stayed in a fancy hotel. This year, Carol found a house in Crescent Beach that we could rent for a reasonable daily rate. It was a bungalow, which is a more fun way of saying a house the size of a hotel room. But it was a cute little place and it has a small kitchen area and a separate bedroom for Grant.
On Friday, I took a half day off of work so that we could get to the bungalow a little earlier. We arrived around 4:00 and unpacked our bags. Grant really wanted to see the beach so we told him we’d walk over there and see it before dinner. The beach was only a few blocks away and Grant enjoyed splashing in the waves and seemed very excited that we let him get his clothes wet. Lucy went along with us and she didn’t mind the water too much, as long as the waves that hit her were small.
On Saturday, we got up and had breakfast and headed back over to the beach. This time we wore our swimsuits and took all of our beach supplies with us. We took Lucy with us again and she seemed to enjoy it a bit more than the night before. She even let me take her out to deeper water and swam in with the waves. We all had a great time there and stayed until after lunch. And no major sunburns to report!
Thanks for the neat photos. Looked like fun~
In the picture where Nathanael and Grant are walking Lucy down the beach the similar stride is unmissable. The emotion sort of overwhelmingly hit me as I noticed how much Grant looks like his father. Even when I talk to Grant on the phone he acts like his father. It’s incredible! Its obvious that Carol and Nathanael are great parents. I don’t know why I’m emotional right now. BTW, can we just have a shot of Carol’s stomach?? 🙂
