April 2021
Flower Garden
Carol planted some bulbs and seeds in the flower garden, which were beautiful when they sprouted.
Carol’s Birthday
Carol got breakfast in bed on her birthday. And later got to have a cake, baked by Nate.
Random & Silly Pictures of the Month
Covid shots, crab apple tree in bloom, a beautiful full moon and silliness with Grant and Nate.
May 2021
Goat Yoga
Once again, Carol was able to do goat yoga in a socially-distanced setting.
New Family Member: Josie
Ever since our beloved Lucy passed away, we knew that eventually we would get another dog to be friends with our Beagle-mix, Daisy. We found Josie, a full Beagle, at a local rescue and thought she might be a good addition to the family. She had come from a puppy mill situation and we thought that maybe we could give her the loving home that she needed to be less fearful of humans and learn how to be a dog. She and Daisy became best buddies quickly and Daisy has taught Josie a lot of things, like how to play. Now they wrestle with each other non-stop.
Grant’s Birthday
Grant turned 13 in 2021. We officially have a teenager!
Kayaking
As the weather warmed a bit, we enjoyed getting out in the kayaks in some local area lakes.
Visit from Nana
Nana stopped by for a visit when the weather got nicer. Grant had nearly caught up with her in height by this time.
Random & Silly Pictures of the Month
Daisy nibbling Nate’s nose (sign of affection), Dinosaur on a bed, Singing Jenna, Roses in Bloom, and Cleo the Hamster.
June 2021
Pottery
Nate’s Dad is a former Art Teacher and produces and sells pottery in his retirement. We went to his studio and each of us tried our hand at throwing a pot on the potter’s wheel. Even Nate’s Mom gave it a shot. The first time in 45+ years of marriage that she’d ever tried it. Nate picked out his own apron (which had been a gift to his Dad by fellow teachers when he retired from teaching). His Dad offered to give the apron to him, but Nate politely declined.
Niece’s Wedding and Time in Lawrence, KS
Carol’s niece was finally able to have her wedding ceremony, which had gotten postponed due to the Covid pandemic. Both of the kids had a role in the service as Grant was ring bearer and Jenna was flower girl. They were the same roles that Carol’s niece and nephew had in our wedding. We enjoyed seeing family that we had not gotten to see in person for quite some time. On the way home, we were able to stop at the cemetery where Carol’s Dad is buried because the kids had never been there.
Josie Time
Lots of time was spent getting to know Josie and getting her comfortable with us.
Random & Silly Pictures of the Month
Breakfast in bed, sitting on Pa and Gramma’s new back deck, Grant before and after a haircut and a Nebraska sunset.
