Christmas 2014
We were pleased to have Gramma and Pa Dungan join us for Christmas week this year. They got in the Sunday night before Christmas and were able to stay with us until the following Saturday morning. Grant really enjoyed the art projects that he did with Pa and all of the fun, silly games that he and Gramma came up with. Jenna took a bit to warm up to them, but seemed to like having them around and soon recognized them by name. She was quite pleased with herself when she signed “Pa” or waved hi to Gramma.
Grant was very excited for Christmas to arrive and I think that having Gramma and Pa here helped him make it through the last few exciting days before Christmas.
We were able to make it to the Christmas Eve service at our church again this year. We really enjoyed the kids service and Jenna was a very quiet kiddo, thanks to Gramma taking off her watch and letting Jenna play with it. We also saw some beautiful Christmas light displays after the service.
Grant actually stayed in bed later on Christmas Day that we expected, considering how excited he had been the night before. He quickly realized that Santa had come, eaten the cookies, drank the milk, and left presents. We jumped right into present opening and he was excited to find all that Santa had left for him, including the roller skates that he had wanted. After the gifts from Santa had been opened, it was time to tackle the mass of presents from family members. We were all very thrilled with the generosity of our loved ones. The last present that was opened was a family gift given by Gramma and Pa – a karaoke machine! We spent the next couple of hours singing a bunch of songs on the disks that Andrew and Alicyn gave us. You’ll see that I made quite a fashion statement wearing shorts with my new Hawaiian shirt along with a new pair of socks and Packers slippers. The karaoke machine will be lots of fun, but will also help Grant practice his reading since the lyrics come up on the screen.
We were glad that Gramma and Pa had an extra day after Christmas to stay with us so that they could play with all of the gifts that we’d received, like Chutes and Ladders, Jenga, and Operation!
