Carol’s Trip Bloomington, IN
Carol was able to get away for a long weekend to see her niece Alyssa in Bloomington, Indiana. They enjoyed their time together, touring Bloomington and going to the art museum on campus.
I was left home with the kids and was worn down quickly.
Valentine’s Day
For Valentine’s Day 2020, I picked Carol up a small box of chocolates.
Nate’s Birthday
I turned….another year older in 2020. Carol made me a delicious birthday meal of cheese fondue. And a lovely personalized cake. The older I get, the less excited I am to celebrate birthdays.
Carol’s Trip to Manhattan, KS
Carol made another quick trip in February to Manhattan, KS to visit her friend Becky. While visiting, she was able to tour one of the rental homes that Becky and her husband own. Super nice place! We may have to rent one of their places for a few days someday. They were also able do so some walking on the prairie near Becky’s house.

Nate’s Company Retreat
At the beginning of March, I headed to San Diego, CA for a company meeting. Never a bad place to visit.
Spring Break Trip
I got home on a Friday night from the company meeting and we left on Sunday to go on a Spring Break trip to Fort Meyers Beach, Florida. We had hoped to be able to meet up with some of our friends while we were in Florida but this was the time that Covid-19 started making its way into the US, so we instead decided to stay as removed from other people as we could while we were vacationing. For the most part, we were either at the rental home or at the beach a block and a half away. We would often go to the beach in the morning, go back to the rental house for lunch and then return to the beach for the afternoon. Not a bad way to spend a week. We also made a friend while we were there. It was a dog named Lola that lived in a house on our walk to the beach. She liked to greet us every time we walked by. Grant and Carol went parasailing together and loved it!

Passing of Grandma Bonnie
Spring Break week did bring us some very sad news. The day after we arrived, I received a call from my Mom that my Grandma Bonnie had passed away. Unfortunately, the timing of her death meant that I wouldn’t be back home from our trip to attend the funeral. Instead, we had a private moment of reflection at the rental house. As I was remembering my Grandmother, I found a postcard at the rental house that said, “Welcome to Paradise”. I appreciated finding that postcard at that moment because I knew that my Grandma was at that moment in Paradise with Grandpa Bob and her siblings and loved ones that passed before her. While I continue to miss my Grandma, I cherish all of the great memories that I have of the 42 years I had with her.
Bike Ride
As the weather in Nebraska started to warm up, bike rides became a common activity since we didn’t feel safe going to public parks during a pandemic.
