Jacksonville Beach Trip
We recently took a trip over to Jacksonville to relax on the beach. When we first got there we set up our umbrella and beach chairs and then took Grant down to the water. He didn’t show a fondness for the water so we returned to our beach chair where he enjoyed playing with the sand.
Eventually Grant got comfortable enough being near the water that we played in the sand near the water. But he still wasn’t sure he wanted to go in it – even with someone holding him.
After a while Grant asked to go back to see the water so we went back into the ocean with him and he started to really enjoy it. With each wave he would say, “here comes another one!” (Dad taught him that one).
As he became more comfortable with the waves, Dada lowered him down so the waves would splash him and he seemed to really enjoy it.
Eventually, he wanted to stand or sit in the water and let the waves hit him. He wanted to keep going deeper into the water until Dad finally had to tell him that he was as deep as he could go. The waves were hitting him right in the face! (Not pictured).
Overall a great beach experience. Unfortunately both Carol and I experienced a bit of a sunburn (luckily Grant was wearing the stronger kids sunscreen so he escaped with minor skin irritation). It has been just over a week since our trip and Carol’s sunburn has turned into a nice tan. And mine has turned into a mass of peeling skin and itchiness!
