Visiting Pa in the Hospital
Nate’s Dad had been putting off surgery to fix several hernias and finally got it done in July 2023. Jenna was a little afraid to visit him in the hospital because she wasn’t sure he was ok. After doing a video call with him, she decided it would be safe to visit him. While there, she tried to comfort him. It was very cute!

RV Trip to Leech Lake, MN
For our summer trip in 2023, we drove our RV up to a campsite on Leech Lake in Minnesota. Carol spent time on Leech Lake in her younger years as her family would travel up there to stay at a family cabin. It was neat to show the kids the lake where Carol spent time. We rented a boat and were even able to drive the boat by the old cabin. It was a fun trip.

Horse Riding Lessons
Carol got a chance to ride one of the horses, Molly, at the kid’s horse riding lessons!

Grant Gets His Braces Off
It is hard to believe that enough time has gone by, but Grant was able to get his braces off his teeth. Handsome kid!

Bike Camp and Aunt Laura’s Visit
Jenna participated in a bike camp where she made really good progress. To encourage Jenna to work hard, her Aunt Laura came to town and went with her to bike camp one day. It was a great experience.

August 2023
RV Weekend at Indian Cave State Park
In August 2023, we took a long weekend and went to a State Park just over an hour from our house. Indian Cave State Park was a very good RV experience.

Nana’s Visit
Just before school started, Nana came to visit. She got to see Jenna’s classroom and meet her teacher, and she rode along to take Jenna to school on the first day. It was a lovely visit.

First Day of School
The kids started school in mid-August. Jenna is in 4th grade this year at Cavett Elementary and Grant is in 10th grade. Grant is attending a brand new High School this year called Standing Bear High School.

Random & Silly Pictures of the Month
Josie rolled over, Grant and a stick bug, Welcoming Snoopy, Chillin’ in the pool, Asleep with the dogs, Harvest of carrots and a full moon.

September 2023
Firepit
We bought some cool powder to add to the firewood in the firepit to make some really cool colors.

Attic Project
Grant has a storage area in our attic for some of his old air conditioners that he has fixed up. To access the area, it was previously just a small opening that he would have to crawl through after removing a painted piece of wood that was screwed into the wall. He and Nate realized that the opening could be opened up wider, so they came up with the idea to make a swinging door that looked like built-in shelving. They built it, installed it, insulated it and did finishing work on it over several weekends. Now when Grant needs to get into his storage area, he just has to undo the hidden lock and push the door open.

Kayaking and Fishing
Summer is always a great opportunity to go to one of the area lakes to do some kayaking and fishing.

Business Trip
Nate had to go on a business trip to San Diego in September 2023. It was his first time traveling in a while due to Covid. One the way back, the connecting flight was on a pretty small plane that didn’t even really get its own gate. Upon arriving back in Lincoln, the Captain of the plane said that the Michigan Wolverines football team had just touched down and was loading into buses. Nate ended up right behind the buses as he was leaving the airport in his car. The Wolverines ended up beating the Huskers that weekend in football. 🙁

Random & Silly Pictures of the Month
