For a combination of an early birthday for Grant and a celebration of our 6th wedding anniversary we took a trip to a horse retirement farm that is about 20 miles from our house. There is an older couple that bought a farm 27 years ago for service horses to go when they can no longer be used as police horses, military horses, research horses, etc. The owners vowed that they would give horses that came to them a place to live where they would be treated well, have lots of room to roam, and never be used for work again. It is an absolutely beautiful place. It is called The Retirement Farm for Horses – Mill Creek Farm – Alachua, Florida. Here is a link to the website.
