A Bit of Mayhem
One of our pumpkins from Halloween that Nana had painted was still out on the front porch in November since it had not rotted like the carved pumpkins. One day I looked out to see that the pumpkin had either experienced some sort of terrible accident or been the victim of foul play.
We kept an eye out for the perpetrator and later caught him in the act. I can only assume that this fiend is named Peter.
Snow
We got more snow in early November and Grant was thrilled. He just wishes it had been more.
He got his wish later in the month.
Husker Game
I got to attend my first Husker game in over 20 years during November. It was probably the coldest day of the year, but I enjoyed seeing the Huskers win and spending the time with my brother.
Brother’s Birthday
We were able to celebrate my Brother’s birthday this year, now that we’ve moved to Nebraska. We went to a Mexican restaurant and told them it was his birthday, so he got a birthday song in Spanish. They also have a tradition of smearing whipped cream on the birthday person’s face, which we knew about in advance.
Then we took turns wearing the Sombrero. Even my nephew Beckett wore the hat.
Thanksgiving
We went to my Brother’s house in Bellevue for Thanksgiving this year. It was a combined family gathering, with my parents and Sister-in-Law’s family also attending. We’ve known them for many years, so they just feel like an extension of our own family. I didn’t remember to take my camera, but I got a picture with my phone of Jenna and I holding her cousin, Beckett.
Movember
Movember is a foundation that was established to raise awareness about men’s health and to raise funds for research into better treatment for health concerns specific to men, like testicular and prostate cancer. Every November, the Movember Foundation asks men to help raise funds by growing a moustache and asking friends and family to donate to the Foundation in support of their ‘stache. I set a goal of $250 and was able to meet my goal. My wife and kids were glad when I reached my goal at the end of November and shaved off the moustache.
Random Pictures from the Month
Jenna on the stairs, Grant on the stairs, Jenna and Dad clowning around, Lucy wearing the cone (because she had a leg sore she wouldn’t leave alone), Grant selfie, Jenna and Lucy in a cardboard box, Jenna and Grant in the box, Grant testing out the ceiling-mounted storage shelves in the garage, and Nate celebrating Purple Shirt Thursday.
