Filley Barn and Pumpkin Patch
In the weeks leading up to Halloween, we spent time with family. One of the places that we went to was the Filley Barn, where they had some neat displays set up showing how farming was done year ago. It was a pretty cold and wet day, but the kids enjoyed exploring the area. Grant enjoyed looking around the old barn and Jenna enjoyed going on a horse carriage ride.
On our way back to Gramma and Pa’s house, we stopped at a pumpkin patch and picked out some pumpkins for making carving and decorating the house.
Visit from Beckett
My brother works from home like I do (though his job is very different than mine). Being able to work wherever he has phone coverage and internet allows him to come to Lincoln to work occasionally. On the days that he visits, I flex some of my hours to be able to help keep an eye on my nephew. Here are some pictures of a recent visit from.
Beckett Baptism
Andrew and Alicyn recently had their son, Beckett, baptized at the church they attend in Bellevue. We were honored to be able to attend the service and I got some pictures of the baptism. After church, we went back to their house for lunch. The day of the baptism also happened to be the first time that we experienced snow since moving to Nebraska.
First Snow!
We got home from the baptism and Grant enjoyed playing in the snow for a while. Luckily, Carol had been proactive in purchasing snow gear for the kids. I think that Jenna is going to be more like Carol and prefer to stay indoors during the winter months. Lucy didn’t seem to mind the snow.
Nana Visit and Trunk or Treat
Nana visited us the weekend before Halloween and we enjoyed spending time with her. Carol and Grant carved pumpkins while Nana painted one. Nana came prepared to participate in Halloween activities by bringing a witch costume. She went with us to the Trunk or Treat event that the church we’ve been visiting had and dressed up. I pulled together a quick 70’s guy outfit to wear.
Fall Leaves and Sunset
Here are some pictures taken in our backyard of leaves and a fall sunset.
Halloween
We had our first Halloween at the new house. It was a lot more busy than our house in Gainesville was. We had lot of kids come to the house and went through an entire large bag of candy. Next year we’ll need to get more bags! The kids enjoyed walking up and down our block and were thrilled at the number of houses that gave out candy. Their baskets were full in no time!
