Horse Riding Lessons

The kids have been taking horse riding lessons through an organization called Windsong Equitherapy. They found a way to re-open safely, so the kids started lessons back up again.

Lincoln, NE Flower Garden

Carol visited a local flower garden called the Sunken Gardens to enjoy some alone time and beautiful scenery.

Family Outing to Pioneers Park

We took a short drive over to Pioneers Park to do a little hiking. They have bison there!

Halloween

We enjoyed a different kind of Halloween this year.  Nana came for a visit and we did a drive-up trick-or-treat at our church. We also did some pumpkin carving. But actual Halloween was not the typical walking the neighborhood.  Instead we hid candy in the basement and had the kids look for it while wearing their costumes.  Grant was a dinosaur and Jenna was a superhero named Ladybug.  Nana and Carol went as mother and daughter witches.  And I went as a surfer dude, though I was mistaken for Weird Al Yankovich.

School Pictures (for Online Learners)

Since the kids have been doing school over Zoom, they didn’t have the chance to get their school pictures taken.  So we took some at home instead and submitted them to their schools for inclusion in the Yearbook.

Nana Visit: Holmes Lake

Nana visited us again.  One of the things that we did was go walking over at Holmes Lake, which is in the middle of town.

Wilderness Park

Carol also did some hiking at Wilderness Park, at the edge of Lincoln.

Thanksgiving

We had a quiet Thanksgiving at home this year. And we bought a Thanksgiving yard decoration because Thanksgiving doesn’t get enough recognition and decor.

Jenna the Dancer

Jenna hasn’t been able to take in-person dance lessons, but that doesn’t stop her from putting on her dance outfit and dancing around the house.

Jenna’s Birthday

Jenna turned 8 this year and, like Grant, we did a virtual party over Skype/Duo.

Christmas

Christmas 2020 was different since we couldn’t go to a church service or be in a family member’s home, but we still enjoyed the holiday.  We figured out a way to have Christmas with my parents by setting up some tables in their garage and sitting at opposite ends while wearing masks.  We even took a small, decorated tree and put it in the middle of the table.

I surprised Carol with a pair of personalized socks. They featured our dearly loved dog, Lucy, who passed away in September 2019 from cancer.

Basement Camping

Jenna wanted to camp for her birthday this year, but it was WAY too cold to do it outside.  So we set up the tent in the basement and camped for the night down there.  We set up a couple of air mattresses inside the tent just like we did with Grant. She seemed to really enjoy it.
