Prep work for Addition

We have decided to add a room on to our house. We have signed with a contractor, closed on our financing, and are now waiting for the proper permits to be completed so we can get started. One of the things that needed to be done before they could start was to remove the top portion of a tree in the backyard. The contractor needed everything above 5 or 6 feet taken off. So Carol and I decided we could do that ourselves. Yeah. It was A LOT of work. We were very lucky. One branch almost took our our roof and another almost took out our neighbors. But in both cases, the heaviest part of the limb missed. Here are a couple pictures of the process. The first shows the large limbs with all of the smaller limbs cut off and the other is the pile of small limbs that were produced. There was a second pile of equal size on the other side of the driveway too. I am not sure why the first photo has some funky coloring going on.
