Silent but Deadly
Grant’s little body is now capable of the famed “silent, but deadly” fart. The other evening as I was finishing up changing a wet diaper I heard a very faint “psssffttt” which seemed to come from Grant. Because there had been no change in his facial expression, I thought, “was that a fart?” Within seconds my question was answered. I nearly lost consciousness! I was afraid that Carol would walk by the baby’s room and find Grant left unattended on the changing table and me crumpled on the floor. I quickly began breathing through my mouth, finished snapping up Grant’s pants, picked him up and left the room. Luckily the aroma didn’t follow us.
Now that I am aware he is able to do this, I won’t be as caught off guard by it again. I hope. Because Grant is a male, I knew it was only a matter of time before he would gain this skill. I just didn’t realize that a baby so young could do anything other than the explosively loud variety of fart. Now begin the years of endless fun that comes with this type of expulsion of air. I have several escape techniques to teach him which will help him avoid blame, while still enjoying the pleasure of seeing the desired reaction from others. I am sure he isn’t capable of understanding the techniques now, but the day will come soon enough.
I can’t wait to teach him all of the “guy” stuff that Carol would probably prefer he didn’t learn. Ha!
