Catching up…January to June 2018
Once again, I have let a significant amount of time go by between blog posts. To remedy this situation, I again offer you the following lengthy blog post full of images and videos of what has been going on in our lives over the past roughly 6 months. I hope you enjoy the short text sections and large number of pictures.
January:
Business Trip
Each year, my company does an “all hands” meeting to get everyone together for a week’s worth of meetings and social activities to let all of us remote employees see each other in person to get to know each other and build relationships. This year the meeting was at a hotel on the Torrey Pines golf course. It was quite a nice room and location.
Family Pictures
We got our family picture taken for the church directory. I think they turned out nice.
Random Pictures from the Month
Silly Grant, Seymour, Lucy, and Mama and Jenna.
February:
Jenna’s Valentines Day Party
Here are some pictures of Jenna at her Pre-K Valentine’s Party.
Alligator Farm in St. Augustine
We took a trip over to the Alligator Farm Zoo for my birthday this year.
Did I mention it was my 40th birthday? Eh. At least I got some good gifts.
Pool Time
It was rather cool out, but we got in the pool anyway during the month of February.
Brunch Date
One of the perks of working out of the house and having flexible hours is that I can occasionally go to brunch with Carol.
Daddy Daughter Dance
Jenna and I attended our first dance together at our church. She seemed to really enjoy it.
Random Pictures from the Month
Jenna singing, a pretty picture of Carol, a silly selfie, sibling love, and power washing the driveway.
March:
Jenna Performs at Gator Gymnastics
For the second year in a row, Jenna was asked to participate in a dance routine with her gymnastics group before a Gator gymnastics meet. This year they performed before the Gators took on the Huskers. She did a great job and Grant and I stuck around to watch the entire gymnastics meet (Gators won).
Garage Sale
We decided to get rid of some things around the house and Carol organized our first ever garage sale. Grant enjoyed helping out and we actually did very well.
Gator Baseball Game
Carol was given a couple of tickets to a Gator baseball game, which she then gave to me. I took my friend Tom and I was lucky enough to get a foul ball.
Easter Party with Jenna
I was able to attend the Easter party that they had at Jenna’s school this year. It was a cute party and I am so lucky that my job allows me to attend things like this now. It was Jenna’s idea to take pictures with the aides that were there, Ms. Jessica and Ms. Megan.
Spring Break 2018
This year, it didn’t work out for us to go down to the Keys to visit Carol’s mom for Spring Break. Instead, we marked something off our Bucket List by going to the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina. Carol found us a great cabin to rent that was on the side of a mountain. We enjoyed our time there immensely, but it was chilly.
Random Pictures from the Month
Warming by the fire, a boy and his dog, crazy socks for World Down Syndrome Day, pretty azaleas in our yard, St. Patrick’s Day, and rocking a mustache.
April:
Easter Pictures
We took some Easter pictures in the backyard since we were all dressed up.
Random Pictures from the Month
Silly selfies, 44th birthday cake, the largest goldfish cracker ever, and Super Jenna eating happily.
And a random video. Grant coming home from school.
May:
Mother’s Day at Pre-K
Carol enjoyed going to a sweet Mother’s Day party at Jenna’s school.
Grant’s Choir Concert
Grant participated in a choir at our church again this semester and did a great job at his second concert. They gave him a special certificate and flower since it will be his last concert with the choir.
Grant’s Birthday
This year Grant wanted to go to the beach for his birthday since we may not see a Florida beach for a while (that is foreshadowing – keep reading). Carol found us a condo that would let us rent by the night in New Symrna Beach, so we stayed two nights over his birthday weekend. It was a beautiful area and we didn’t let a bit of rain keep us from going to the pool and beach.
Jenna’s Pre-K Graduation
Jenna graduated from Pre-K at Stepping Stones Preschool. We are really proud of the advancements that we’ve seen in her and will forever be grateful for her teachers and aide (she loves Ms. Jen). She did a great job during the graduation ceremony. Here are some pictures of her with her teachers and friends.
Anniversary
Carol and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary this year. The traditional gift is Ivory and the modern gift is Gold. We always try to buy each other something either traditional or modern each year. I think we nailed it this year.
Random Pictures from the Month
Jenna and a school friend, Grant and a gator, Jenna putting herself to bed in a pillowcase, Grant as Ben Franklin, Grant and Lucy, surprised Nate, and a falcon on our back fence.
June (1st Part):
A Big Announcement
As foreshadowed earlier in this post, we announced on Facebook in June that we are relocating back to the Midwest this month. We are moving to Lincoln, NE to be closer to my family. My family is mostly located in Nebraska, but we will be much closer to Carol’s family as well. Her family is in Kansas and Colorado, which will now be within driving distance! We look forward to being closer to family and hope that it will increase the frequency that we can get together with everyone. Back in April, I made a short trip to Lincoln to find a house and we were lucky enough to have a house on contract by the time that I left the state. Here are some pictures of the house that we will be moving into this month. Grant is very excited that it is a two-story house.
Nate; Many thanks for all the new photos! It has been awhile and I do appreciate them, as I don’t do facebook. Love, Nana
