Business Trip: Las Vegas
Nate’s company re-started their annual company-wide strategy meeting and decided to get together in a location outside of California. The company leadership chose Las Vegas for the meeting in 2024. The hotel was just outside of Las Vegas, but on the last night of the meeting, Nate and some coworkers took a shuttle Uber downtown to check out the sights on the strip.

Spring Break Trip
Instead of getting the RV out of storage, Nate and Carol found a rental house on a lake in the Ozarks to spend Spring Break week. It wasn’t right on the water, but it wasn’t too far of a walk to get to the water. They took two of their kayaks along on the trip. About an hour into the drive to the lake house, the kayaks nearly flew off the car on the Interstate. After stopping quickly along the side of the road and re-strapping the kayaks to the car, the journey was continued with no further issues. Everyone enjoyed a relaxing week at the lake house kayaking, hiking and fishing.

Josie’s Surgery
It was kind of rough start to the year from a health perspective and our dog Josie had the most extreme issue. She was diagnosed with glaucoma in her right eye and a retinal detachment which caused blindness in that eye. After two months of trying unsuccessfully to control the glaucoma with many kinds of eye drops, the only course of treatment was to remove the eye. Originally, we had planned on a prosthetic eye. But during her surgery, the Vet called to tell us that there was a possibly cancerous tumor in her eye that was causing all the issues. The best course of action was to remove the entire eye and close it permanently. Later it was confirmed that it was cancer, so we feel like we made the right decisions, but it is hard to see her with just one eye now. We are adjusting to it though and she is still the same happy, loving dog. And she still howls at us when it is time for her to be fed!

Easter
We went to Nate’s parents house for Easter again this year and did an egg hunt. It was good to see family.

Loving siblings, Silly Grant, Nate drinking stuff for a colonoscopy, a sunset and Ninja Jenna

Thank you, Nate, for the big update. I have read them all. It is impressive to see all the family activities and excursions as well as the development of Grant and Jenna. You and Carol must be very proud parents. Nice to see some Leech Lake photos, a little nostalgia trip for me.
