Labor Day (Part 2)
On Sunday after breakfast, we drove over to St. Augustine and went through the Alligator Farm Zoological Park. It was quite a nice display of alligators and crocodiles from all over the world. They also had other kinds of reptiles and birds from Africa. Grant especially enjoyed throwing food pellets to the gators. Before leaving, we stopped at the kids area and played on the playground equipment and Grant climbed on a huge turtle statue.
Sunday night we went to dinner at a restaurant on the beach and sat upstairs so that we could have a beautiful view of the ocean. After dinner we agreed to let Grant splash in the ocean in his clothes again. He, again, enjoyed it immensely. As we walked home we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
On Monday morning, after checking out of the bungalow, we drove a few miles down A1A highway to Fort Matanzas National Monument. There was a free ferry ride from the park over to the Fort which was across the river. Grant was really excited to ride the boat. Once we got to the Fort, Grant enjoyed walking up the two sets of steps to see the different areas, but he was most excited to climb the ladder which led up to the roof of the building. After a boat ride back to the visitors center and a quick lunch, we headed home from our weekend.
The turtle sculpture is neat with Carol and Grant on it. I like the birds; the alligators, not so much.
I thought Carol’s photo of the shadows was too cool not to include on the blog. That is a picture of an albino alligator. They say that good luck comes to anyone who gazes upon one. I am not sure if looking at a picture of one does the same. Let me know. 🙂
I am so happy you were able to have such a neat time together. I LOVE the bungalow! The picture of the shadow of the 4 of you was so cool! I would like to have seen the fort. Was that an albino alligator I saw? Love you all, Gramma
